Mid-Century Modern Kitchen Restoration
A mid-century kitchen restored with horizontal-grain bamboo cabinets, frosted-glass uppers, and grey stone counters — keeping the vaulted ceilings and indoor-outdoor glass that define the house.
About this project
This kitchen needed a full gut that still respected the home's mid-century bones: planked vaulted ceilings, clerestory light, and floor-to-ceiling glass to the patio. We stripped the old cabinets and finishes, patched and moisture-boarded walls, and roughed-in plumbing and electrical for a cleaner layout. Flat-panel bamboo veneer cabinets went in next — bases, uppers, and a large center island — with frosted-glass doors in slim frames on select wall units. Grey stone countertops with strong veining capped the runs and the island, including a flush gas cooktop and seating overhang. Stainless appliances and a modern gooseneck faucet finish the space so the new millwork reads as intentional, not bolted onto the architecture.
